Nolan, Samuel: Never Let Go
Story
A family has been haunted by an evil spirit for years. Their safety and environment are called into question when one of the children questions whether the evil is real. Mark Romanek was set to direct the film back when it was titled “Mother Land.” and Alexandre Aja took over as director a month later.
First, my thoughts: I really enjoyed this movie
The Big Rock Candy MountainWritten by Harry McClintockPlayed by Van Hunt. It’s a solid psychological horror that keeps you guessing the entire way through. The movie does a great job of creating a creepy, eerie atmosphere that draws you in and makes you feel uneasy.
They don’t rely on them just to scare you every two minutes
What I liked most about it is how it makes you think – there were many moments where I wasn’t sure what was real and what wasn’t. It’s a nice change from the usual horror movies that explain everything for you. The plot is interesting and engaging, and unlike most horror films today, jump scares are only used when they actually add to the tension.
I feel like a lot of people just don’t appreciate good horror anymore
The acting is also very good – it helps make the whole thing feel more real and adds to the creepy atmosphere. Now for my horror movie review rant: After watching, I was eager to read some reviews and see if people shared my thoughts, but I was shocked by the number of people who complained. Some said the plot was “too confusing”, or that there weren’t enough scares, or that they just didn’t get it because they were distracted on their phone for half the movie.
It can’t just be me who thinks like that, right?
They’d rather watch movies filled with cheap scares and predictable plots than something that actually makes them think. It’s frustrating because truly scary horror movies are becoming so rare these days, and I worry about where the genre is going if that’s what people want.
